Six Sentence Sunday 4/01/12

Happy Six Sentence Sunday! Today, I’m continuing with my WIP “Weekend Assistant.” I’m picking up where I left off last week – Kate is in way over her head with her ex Adam… Feel free to check out my other SSS entries below to get caught up!

Adam chuckled and began tracing my lips with his finger and I sucked in air at the gentle intrusion.  “Do you know what feature of yours always fascinated me?  Your lips, so full, I remember how it felt to kiss you…so fucking soft.”
His eyes were cold and detached as he followed the movement of his finger.  I knew if I pushed hard now I could get away, I could slip through his grasp but I was in thrall, trapped by his words and my memories.  So I fought to control my breathing, concentrated on the traffic in the distance and thought about all those people who were headed home from work, while I was up here, being slowly tortured by the man I once loved.

Thanks for reading – I do hope you enjoyed it! And don’t forget to check out some of the other authors over at Six Sentence Sunday!

It’s Six Sentence Sunday time again! Today, I’m sharing another snippet from my WIP “Weekend Assistant.” At twenty-three, Kate sacrificed her relationship with Adam to secure his future. Now it’s six years later – Adam is the CEO of a Fortune 500 company and holding his annual shareholder’s meeting at the hotel where Kate works.  She assumed he’d just ignore her, instead he’s arranged for her to work as his assistant for the weekend.

We’re picking up where we left off last week – it’s their first encounter alone and Kate is in way over her head:

“Do you still want me, Katie?” Adam asked as he secured his other hand against the small of my back.
“No,” I answered quickly.  I had never encountered this Adam before – he was a stranger, this hard man and I knew if I fought back things would escalate beyond either of our control.
“No?” he pressed his length against me – a light thrust that nearly brought me to my knees.
I felt a spark of arousal so strong it was all I could do not to gasp – I knew if he didn’t stop I would humiliate myself and come right there. “No, now let me go.”

It’s Lucky 7 MEME Day!

Thanks to the lovely and talented Sandra Bunino, for tagging me — it’s my first time participating in the The Lucky 7 MEME!

Okay so what exactly is The Lucky 7 MEME?  Here’s how it works:

▪                Go to p. 77 of current WIP

▪                go to line 7

▪                copy down next 7 lines/sentences & post them as they’re written

▪                Tag 7 other authors

▪                Let them know

Like Sandra, my WIP is a novella, so I’m going to include page 7 of my WIP “Weekend Assistant.”  In this snippet, I’m flashing back to the moment Kate and Adam went from friends to lovers. Here’s my seven!:

“Aren’t you going to tell me a story?” he asked as he gently clasped my ponytail, sliding the rubber band down as he ran his fingers through my hair.
“Adam?” I started slightly as he picked up my hair, forming another ponytail with his fist.
“I’ll start…once upon a time, there was a girl named Katie – she had sky blue eyes, and her hair was so golden that even the sun was blinded when she was near. She didn’t know it but she was the prettiest girl in all the lands…”
“Oh you didn’t tell me you wanted to hear a fairytale,” I laughed and tried to pull away slightly, but my hair was still wrapped around his hand.
“She smelled like the sweetest dessert any man had ever tasted, and her skin    was like the finest silk, smooth and delicate…” I shivered involuntarily as he slipped his other hand inside of my pajama top and began running his fingertips up and down my bare back.
Hope you enjoyed reading! Now it’s time to tag the next lucky seven! Here goes:

We’re picking up where we left off last week – Adam just asked Kate why she thinks she’s there:

He was standing so close that I felt engulfed by his heat – my body hummed in response. Helplessly, I leaned against him, silently begging for more but he instantly drew back, breaking the connection.
“Clearly you want to punish me,” I answered as I pushed against his arm, trying to break free of his cage. In one deft movement he turned me around, my back was pressed against the railing and his hand was fisted in my hair.
“Punish you…” he mused, grabbing my bun a little tighter. “I suppose there’s truth to that, I’ve never wanted to punish anyone more.”

Thanks to everyone who made my first SSS such a pleasure last week – it was lovely meeting all of you. And don’t forget to check out some of the other authors over at Six Sentence Sunday!

Hi everyone!

It’s a day of firsts for me: my first post and my first Six Sentence Sunday! Today I’m sharing Six from my WIP – a novella called “Weekend Assistant.”

At twenty-three, Kate sacrificed her relationship with Adam to secure his future.  Now it’s six years later and Adam, the forbidding CEO of a Fortune 500 company, is holding his annual shareholder’s meeting at the hotel where Kate works.  She assumed he’d just ignore her, instead he’s asked the manager if he can borrow her services for the weekend…Here’s a little preview of their first encounter alone – the moment she’s been both dreading and fantasizing about for six years:

Adam was silent as he stepped directly behind me, placing his hands on the rails – effectively caging me in.  We stood like that for a few minutes, quietly taking in the view, silently daring the other to speak first. Having him so close was unbearable – his smell, familiar yet different at the same time – wafted over me every time the air stirred.  It took everything in me not to lean against him.  So I gripped the rail tighter and tried to keep my breathing even.
“Why do you think I brought you here, Kate?” he asked softly as he crowded me towards the railing.

I hope you enjoy reading! And please check out some of the other authors over at Six Sentence Sunday!
